How a padel Americano works

An Americano is the most popular social format in padel. Everyone plays with a new partner each round, against new opponents, and every point counts for you personally. Each game is played to a fixed total, usually 24 or 32 points, so all courts finish at roughly the same time.

  1. Enter the players. Four is the minimum. With 5, 6 or 10 players, some sit out each round and PadelRounds rotates them fairly.
  2. Pick the points. 32 points takes about 12–15 minutes per game. Serve four times, then the serve passes on.
  3. Play the rounds. Write the score on the printed plan or type it on your phone. With 32 points you only type one score; the other fills in.
  4. Crown the winner. The player with the most points wins. Ties go to point difference.

Questions

Is PadelRounds free?

Yes. There is no account and no limit on players. Tournaments are saved in your own browser, and you can export a backup file at any time.

How many rounds should we play?

With 8 players on 2 courts, 7 rounds means everyone partners everyone once. Choose “Auto” and PadelRounds picks the number of rounds so everyone plays the same number of games.

What is the difference between Americano and Mexicano?

In an Americano the pairs are planned in advance so everyone partners everyone. In a Mexicano each round is drawn from the standings: 1st & 4th play 2nd & 3rd on each court, so games get closer as the evening goes on.

Can I print the schedule?

Yes. “Print plan” gives the full schedule with blank score boxes for the club wall. “Print results” gives the standings and every score. Choose “Save as PDF” in the print dialog to get a PDF.

Does it work with a time limit?

Yes. Set 8, 10, 12 or 15 minutes per round. A loud whistle starts the round and a horn sounds when time is up.

Where is my data stored?

Only in the browser on your device. Nothing is sent to a server. Use “Export backup” to move tournaments to another phone or computer.
